Woodworking press machines are a great tool for any woodworker, but they can be a bit intimidating if you're not familiar with them.  And like any tool, they can sometimes have problems.  here are a few common problems with woodworking press machines and how to troubleshoot them:

  • The machine doesn't work. If the machine doesn't turn on, check to see if the power cord is plugged in and that the outlet is working.  If the machine is still not working, check the fuse or circuit breaker.
  • The machine is making a lot of noise. If the machine is making a lot of noise, it could be a sign that something is wrong with the motor.  Check to see if the motor is overheating.  If it is, turn off the machine and let it cool down.  If the motor is still making a lot of noise, you may need to replace it.
  • The machine is not pressing down evenly. If the machine is not pressing down evenly, it could be a sign that the bed is not level.  Check to see if the bed is level and adjust it if necessary.  If the bed is still not level, you may need to replace it.
  • The machine is not holding the wood in place. If the machine is not holding the wood in place, it could be a sign that the clamps are not tight enough.  Check to see if the clamps are tight and adjust them if necessary.  If the clamps are still not tight enough, you may need to replace them.

These are just a few of the common problems that can occur with woodworking press machines.  If you're having trouble with your machine, don't hesitate to consult your owner's manual or a professional woodworker for help.  Here at Allwood we offer maintenance, servicing and repairs on all Interwood Presses.
